Mr. Nipon Theera-Umpon received his B.Eng. (Hons.) degree from Chiang Mai University, M.S. degree from University of Southern California, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, all in electrical engineering.  He has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Chiang Mai University since 1993.  He has served as editor, reviewer, general chair, technical chair and committee member for several journals and conferences.  He has been bestowed several royal decorations and won several awards.  He was associate dean of Engineering and chairman for graduate study in electrical engineering.  He is serving as the director of Biomedical Engineering Institute and the chairman for graduate study in biomedical engineering, Chiang Mai University.  He is a member of Thai Robotics Society, Biomedical Engineering Society of Thailand, Council of Engineers in Thailand.  He has served as Vice President of the Thai Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. Dr. Theera-Umpon is a senior member of the IEEE, and is a member of IEEE-IES Technical Committee on Human Factors, and IEEE-CIS Travel Grant Subcommittee.  He has published more than 150 full research papers in international refereed publications.  His research interests include Pattern Recognition, Digital Image Processing, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Machine Learning, Big Data Analysis, Data Mining, Medical Signal and Image Processing.



Dr. Ka Lok Man is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou, China and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia. He is also a senior research scientist at the Baltic Institute of Advanced Technologies, Lithuania.

He has more than 15 years of international teaching experience, several years of industrial experience in integrated circuit design and has been involving in many industry-oriented research projects in Microelectronics and Computer Science, many of them in cooperation with STMicroelectronics, Synopsys and LG. He has a good publication record and to date has more than 500 published academic articles.

In addition, he has been a committee member, reviewer, session chair and/or general chair/co-chair of 250+ IEEE, IASTED, KIPS and IAENG conferences. He is also the editor-in-chief/editor of over 70 international scientific and engineering journals as well as lead guest editor of many journal special issues indexed in SCI, EI, SCOPUS and/or ESCI databases.

Finally, he has established the Wireless Sensor Network Laboratory ( at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering and the Data Mining Laboratory of the International Business School both at XJTLU. Ka Lok Man is also the Founder and Chair of the DATICS (Design, Analysis and Tools for Integrated Circuits and Systems) international research group ( and the Advancements in Computing, IoT and Computer Engineering Technology Committee; and which have about 200 active members worldwide from 50+ different countries, including department heads, faculty deans, full professors and senior researchers.
